Shirley Woolley
October 18, 2022
Passed away peacefully surrounded with love on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in her 100th year. Beloved wife of Ernie Woolley (2003). Cherished and devoted mother of Barbara and Glen Mahaffy of Ancaster, Louise and Lawrie Bell of St. Marys, Margaret and John Keech of Chatham, and Carolyn and Bruce Weaver of Calgary. Loving Nana to Darren and Sandra Mahaffy (Jordan and Zachary); Leah and Dan Abbey (Sarah and Connor); Jeff and Virginia Bell (Kirsten, Mackenzie, Bailey and Addison); Scott and Carolyn Bell (Tessa); Matthew and Lynetta Keech (Brayden and Amelia); Adam and Caitlynn Keech (Thomas, Eliza and Felix); Andrew Keech and Diana Simpson (Dayton and Kinsey); Alexander Weaver and Berkley Petersen; Patrick Weaver and Joshua Weaver. Survived by her dear brother-in-law Bernie Teague.
Mom was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta; the only child of Thomas and Margaret MacFarlane. Following their marriage in Calgary in 1946, Mom and Dad moved to Dundas where Dad resumed his career with the Royal Bank of Canada. Dad’s career took them to Hamilton, Leamington, Sarnia, Toronto, Sudbury, St. Marys and Wallaceburg. Mom was always an active volunteer in her church and community, where she developed lasting friendships. As a lifelong learner, Mom fulfilled her dream of resuming her university studies which had been put on hold during the war. Mom received her BA from the University of Waterloo in 1989. Mom and Dad travelled extensively with family as well as together in retirement.
When Mom and Dad retired to London in 1986, Mom became involved in the London Newcomers’ Club, and volunteered for the Cancer Society, University Hospital, Chateau Gardens (Chartwell) and the Osteoporosis Society. Mom was an active member of Siloam United Church.
The family is so appreciative of the care and many kindnesses shown to Mom over the last six years while living at Amica, and for the care and compassion of the 10th floor staff at University Hospital.
Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at Siloam United Church, 1240 Fanshawe Park Road East, London on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Siloam Cemetery. I met Shirley when I moved into Amica. We were on the same floor & for the past couple of years shared our meals together. Shirley was kind, considerate and a true "lady" in all ways. She has been my very good friend since I met her and I will dearly miss her quiet presence and lovely smile. My deepest condolences to the family, but I know that Shirley is at peace now.

My sincere condolences to you Louise and all your family. I have such fond memories of your mother on our trip to Ireland. Such a sweet lady. Thinking of you all.
Our deepest condolences to all of Shirley's family. She was a wonderful neighbour on Phillbrook Crescent and a kind and generous soul to all. Such a warm and friendly person will be terribly missed. Her and Ernie's travels provided us with a momento which often reminds us of her - a photo Ernie took in a New Zealand sound which we also sailed and which hangs in our hallway.
Margaret & John, Matt & Lynetta, Adam and Andrew: Sincere condolences to you and all of your families in the sad loss of your Mom and Grandma. Hopefully your many happy memories of all the times spent with her help during this difficult time. Bev Whitelaw

To the families of Barbara, Louise, Margaret and Carolyn - I am so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. Over the years we have had many good times, lots of laughs, lots of wine and enjoyed Shirley’s sense of humour. She will be missed in our family circle. May God grant you peace in knowing she is no longer in pain and is dining and dancing with Ernie once again. We all loved her and have been with you on her last journey. Thinking of you all at this time. ❤️😇
