Larry was a remarkable man with kindness, expertise and humour. He made so many contributions in healthcare and developed many friendships over the years. I enjoyed our time together on the Board of QHN and in other quality endeavours. Larry will be greatly missed by family and friends. My sincere condolences to his family.

My sincere condolences to the McBride family. When I first moved over to the HealthCare division in the fall of 2003 I remember being warmly welcomed by Larry. I had been with the division for less than a month and the entire team was in Toronto for the CAWC conference. I was in awe of Larry and the relationships he had with not only our team, but with our customers. They all respected and adored him. I used to wonder if I would ever have such strong relationships with customers like he had - I know now that it comes with time, commitment and integrity. Larry was the epitome of a sales professional and I was happy to have known him. He will be greatly missed. Keep smiling Mr. McBride, your smile, willingness to share your wisdom and experience with me and others as well as your enthusiasm for life are what I will always remember most. Love Susanne and family

Deepest condolences to Pauline , and the entire family. Larry was an absolute force of nature. Friend to all who know him. He was a very intelligent person , who was constantly curious , and cared deeply for those in his life. Larry was always there for the next generation , providing insights, ideas, coaching and support . He was such a bright light, funny and able to laugh at himself and to make anyone comfortable . He shared is intellect and perspective in a way that was open and engaging. The world has been made dimmer by his passing , and he will live on in the memories off all who were lucky enough to call him friend.

Dear Pauline, Lisa and Melissa I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I have known Larry ever since he started volunteering with LHSC and he showed up consistently - every meeting - prepared to participate and genuinely interested in what was being discussed and all the people around the table. He engaged with everyone. Shared his knowledge, perspective and keen willingness to learn. However what is most important, for you to know, is how important each of you were to him, He shared stories and of course concerns, as life provided each of you with challenges, but his love and in fact devotion, to you were so clear. What a special family. So many are sharing in your sadness.

Dear Pauline, Lisa and Melissa I met Larry when I started with 3M. Always a gentleman who showed a genuine interest in cultivating lasting friendships. He naturally drew people to him by his witty humour but most importantly he truly wanted to hear your story as well as share some of his. One thing he often shared was that when things get challenging, put something in place that you look forward to. It just may offer an answer. Thank you for being my treasured friend. You are greatly missed.

I met Larry almost two decades ago when he started as a community member on the Quality and Performance Monitoring Committee at London Health Sciences Centre. The qualities that Larry possessed that stood out to me was his generosity and passion for sharing knowledge, power of helping others without expecting anything in return, insatiable curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning. Larry’s passion for quality improvement in care was visible at all times and never faltered in all the time I knew him. I also learned from Larry the importance of getting to know people you don’t know. That talking to a stranger can lead to new insights or make an impact on someone else. In conversation before one Board meeting, Larry mentioned how he made a pact with himself that for one full month (pre-pandemic) that every time someone struggling or homeless asked him for cash on the street, he would ask them for their story or the biggest lesson they learned but give those individuals he spoke with what was in his pocket at the end of that conversation. When I asked him what he learned from those conversations, he said. “We are all far more alike than many people would think regardless of a person's situation or circumstance”. Larry will be missed
