Sandra Joy McCann

May 21, 2022

Peacefully, with family around her, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Glenn, celebrating 64 years of marriage. Wonderful, loving, and proud mother of Connie (Tom) McFarlan and Tom (Sheila) McCann. Treasured grandmother of Danica (Ben) Wheeler, Mathew McFarlan, Jayme McCann, the late Zachary McCann, Jessica McCann; and glowing great-grandmother of Sydney Wheeler. Daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Irene Goodwin of Picton, Ontario, and sister of the late Diane (Howard) Hart of Windsor, Ontario.

Blessed with a beautiful family and a happy childhood growing up in Picton, Sandra gained a love of entertaining from her mother and also loved accompanying her father on his veterinarian visits. Sandra was witty, had a good sense of humour, was a positive thinker and believed that if you can’t change something, then it’s not worth worrying about.

She was also constantly encouraging and complimenting her family, reminding them how wonderful they are. She enjoyed bridge, sewing, knitting, curling, tennis, and instructing aquafit. Sandra was involved with Meals On Wheels and Newcomers organizations. Sandra was a big believer in continuing education! Known for her fashion sense and use of fun colours creating an admired personal style. Sandra was a friendly, fun-loving, people-person who loved cooking and entertaining.

Over the years, she and Glenn hosted many elegant get-togethers, dinners and parties for family and friends at their home and cottage resulting in many cherished memories of birthdays, anniversaries and New Year’s Eves for those who attended. She was the creator of many family traditions filled with fun events and recipes, which are loved and still carried on by her children and grandchildren.

Sandra will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please read a book of choice, or give a compliment or word of encouragement to someone in her memory.

Our deepest condolences to Glenn and family. Sandi was one of a kind. We have known Sandi for over 30 years through tennis at GH, we socialized often, new years eves, summer BBQs, dinner at restaurants, at McCann's cottage, etc. Sandy was always gracious, fun, generous and always wore a comforting smile. May god rest her soul and her beautiful memories give comfort to Glenn, family and friends.
