With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of John Van Den Akker on January 2, 2022 at his home in London in his 74th year, surrounded by his loved ones. Beloved beyond words by his wife Frances. Son of the late Mary and Bert Van Den Akker and brother to the late Bert and Paul Van Den Akker. Loving father of Guy Lepage (Grace), Charles Van Den Akker (Trudy), Tim Van Den Akker, Melodie Van Den Akker, David Scott, Jennifer Benoit (Mark), Lisa Scott (Richard), Sara Van Den Akker and Adam Van Den Akker (Ashley). Dear brother of Nell Howse (John), Rickey Ager, Ken Van Den Akker (Janet), Fritz Van Den Akker (Dianne), Teresa Johnston, Mary Joosten (Joseph), Elizabeth Lam (Desmond) and Angela Andersen (Paul). John will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren. A friend to so many, including Bill Carter (Marilyn), Bob Bozak (Sara) and Roy Phillips (Pauline). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the team at St Elizabeth Health Care and to the many medical professionals who assisted with John’s care. John was a humble, generous and devoted man. Many of you will have admired his lifelong passion for woodwork and his unmatched talent for ‘creating beautiful points of view’. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a private family funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Registration will be required to attend as attendance numbers will be restricted. A livestream of the service will also be provided for those wishing to view remotely.

So sorry to all the family for the loss of John. He was a good man with a kind heart. I'm sure that he will be missed by many friends and especially by his large family. Sorry to Frances. May God give you strength to find peace. John's talent in woodworking was exceptional. It was a joy to have a shop, beside his shop, for a few years. The smell of wood, the trail of sawdust coming from the shop. We are less one kindhearted, good man in this world.
