Brendan Anthony Joseph Lynch

December 31, 2021

Peacefully, with his family and God at his side, at University Hospital, London, Brendan Lynch, in his 84th year passed away on December 31st, 2021. Brendan is the beloved husband of Anne (McCourt) for 61 years. Loving father to his five daughters; Brenda (John) Spinozzi, Amanda (John “Kaz” Jaronski) Woods, Mary (Andrew Bisceglia) Lynch, Julie (Darren Death) Harmer, Ann (Mark) Walton. Dear Papa to Leslie (Craig) Russell, Rachael (Jared) Park, Lisa (Adam) Petrenko, Jennifer (James “Bucky”) Spinozzi-Piper, Alexa (Jordan Kane) Littleton, Mark (Mackenzie Shaw) Spinozzi, John (Jamie Vallance) Harmer Jr., Caroline Harmer, Isaiah Bisceglia. Great Grandpapa to Ava, Zach, Declan Brendan, Xander, and baby Jack (2022). He will be dearly missed by his brother Joseph (Mary) Lynch (Dublin), his sister-in-law Sister Bridget McCourt (n.Ireland), all of his family in Ireland and Canada, and his many friends. Brendan will be welcomed into heaven by his predeceased parents, Joseph and Julia Lynch, sister, Sheila (Johnny) Graham, and brother, Desmond (Peg) Lynch. And by his sons-in-law John McLeod and John Harmer Sr. After serving as Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy for 16+ years, Brendan and his wife Anne courageously brought their five little girls from n.Ireland to Canada. Brendan’s beautiful Irish tenor voice and his renditions of Danny Boy and Ave Maria will sing forever in our hearts. To describe Brendan as a character would be an understatement. His quick wit, strong faith, and ability to speak with anyone (and he did) brought great comfort to many people. Let’s just say that if you met Brendan, you’ll never forget him, and we pray that you don’t. Sorry to read this. Brendan was not just a nice man but wonderful singer. I am happy I met him and will always remember his voice. Please accept my condolences.

~ Grant Gunn

My sincere and deepest condolences on your loss of Brendan. His warmth was apparent from the first time I met him, upon an inspection of our boilers at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. From the first time we met to the last time we enjoyed lunch together in Dorchester with my own daughter, he spoke of such great admiration and love of his family. His stories held us in our seat...his humor brought many a smile to our faces, and his kind heart and character was, and is, often related to many in our profession of Power Engineering. He was the definition of a seasoned professional! His advice and understanding were second to none, and I am proud to have met him, and call him friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Dear Auntie Anne and family, It was with great sadness that we heard of Uncle Brendan’s passing and we are sorry we could not come to pay our respects in person. I have spent the past few days sharing stories of my favourite childhood memories with my own girls l and they all take place with the Lynch family. When my parents were new to Canada, you were family to us and so incredibly warm, welcoming and loving. My daughters had the privilege of spending a few visits with Uncle Brendan over the years and he was so generous with his time and his stories, he left a lasting impression. We share in your grief but know that you are finding comfort in each other and the many wonderful memories you have and will continue to share. Much love, blessings. Korinna Lattemore and family

We had the honour of having known Brendan and appreciating what an outstanding gentleman he was. His quick whit, his love of his daughters and wife, and his beautiful voice will always hold a place in my sole. He would break out in song and it was magical, bringing the room to a stop. He was truly gifted and so glad that he shared the gift with us. However as grand as his voice was, his true gift was in raising an incredible family. Each of his children have grown to be accomplished, loving and a credit to his legacy. I am sure he is a peace with God and reflecting on a life well lived.

Dear Anne, cousins and family. I am very sad to hear of Brendan's passing. Some of my earliest memories are of rolling around the floor with hi m in Nana Lynch's and the excitement I always felt wondering what presents he would bring from whatever part of the world he had been in. Those presents and the tales that went with them brought new dimensions of curiosity and wonder to my little Dublin life. Sixty plus years on, they remind of all that is precious and amazing about our brief time together on this planet. With love from Mayo, Ireland to you all - John and family

~ John Graham

I know Mr. Lynch as a truly respected man's man that along with the love of his life, raised five very talented, intelligent, beautiful, vivacious and loving daughters, all of whom collectively have contributed significantly to our community and in other parts of the world. If you were lucky enough to hear him sing, it was easy to mistake his booming voice for Pavarotti. Bob Hope had nothing on him in the quick wit department. No doubt he will be sadly missed by all of us and mostly by his 6 girls. Though his place will never be filled, his memory will be eternal. May God Bless you Mrs. Lynch and your family.

~ George Georgopoulos

Ann and family, I am so sorry to hear this, and I hold you in my prayers. I will miss Brendan at mass and the Library. So much laughter was shared.
