December 9, 2021

Passed away peacefully at McCormick Home on Thursday, December 9, 2021, Dr. John M. Muir, 88, of London (Komoka). John is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughter, Jane (Andy); his sons, Jonathan (Patty) and Andrew; as well as his grandchildren: Emma, Ben, Adam and Kingsley. John was born to parents, William and Elizabeth Muir, on February 27, 1933, in Ashington, Northumberland, England. He grew up in nearby Morpeth where he met Anne who lived around the corner. John attended medical school at the University of Glasgow. Several years later he and Anne emigrated to Canada in 1961. After settling in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan the family moved to London, Ontario in 1970.

John practiced medicine as an anesthetist until he retired from Victoria Hospital. John was an avid reader and a long-time member of the London Hunt and Country Club, where he and Anne both enjoyed golf. In 1985 John and Anne moved to Komoka and fell in love with the farm that they owned for the next 35 years.

John’s family would like to express their thanks to the incredible staff at McCormick Home – who took such great care of him over the last two years. As well, a thank you to his long-time friends, especially Lorna and Ian Anderson, Jim Bain and Ed Meads, who were always there to support him. Consistent with John’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In memory of John, donations to the McCormick Care Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada are greatly appreciated.
