May 28, 1939 – November 24, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Margaret Rose Perrier (née Greer), on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at University Hospital, London, Ontario, with her family by her side. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Rodolphe “Rudy” Perrier; her daughter, Janice (Allan Blitzstein); sons, Greg, and Scott (Catherine MacLeod); her grandchildren, Nicole (Adam Rankin), Michael (Eliana Michaels), and Melissa; and great-grandson, Wesley. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Maude Greer, of Belfast, Northern Ireland; and her sister, Muriel Commisso, of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Born on May 28, 1939 in Fort William, Ontario (Thunder Bay), Margaret attended Dease Street Public School and Fort William Vocational Collegiate Institute. Following her high school education, she worked at Philpot and Delgaty Insurance Agency until her marriage to Rudy Perrier in 1958. Margaret lived a full life with her main focus always on her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She was supportive of her children’s education throughout their lives and often volunteered to chaperone elementary school activities. She was also a volunteer at The George Jeffrey Children’s Centre in Thunder Bay where she helped children with disabilities to complete their therapy in the pool. Margaret loved singing as she participated in school choirs, which led her, as an adult, to join the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed working on fund raising projects with her community church as she was an active member of the St. Margaret’s Church Catholic Women’s League for many years. Margaret and Rudy spent their later years living in Lyford Cay, Nassau, Bahamas. Again Margaret’s love of children brought her to the Lyford Cay International School where she taught a literacy program for children with learning challenges. Throughout her life, Margaret had a ready smile and always demonstrated selfless acts of kindness for everyone with whom she came in contact. Margaret will be remembered by her family for her kindness, her sense of humour and laughter. A private family funeral was conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Margaret are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.
