John Robert ‘Bob’ Nicholson

Of London, passed away following a long illness at the age of 93 on April 6, 2021. Dearly loved husband of 67 years of Pat Nicholson and father of John Nicholson (Marg), of London, Paul, of London, and Anne Gatfield (Chris), of Mill Bay, B.C. Proud grandfather of Jake (Vicki), Will (Andrea), Ben, Eve (Ryan), Skye (Tom), Chloë, Max (Kellee) and Kate (Nick). Great-grandfather of Robbie, George, Avery, Saoirse, Jade, Romi, Miles and Oscar.

Bob was born in Vancouver, B.C. on April 4, 1928 to the Hon. J. R. Nicholson and Jean Nicholson. After graduating from UWO’s Faculty of Medicine in 1953 and completing postgraduate work in Toronto and Pittsburgh, Bob practiced medicine as a respected pediatrician in London into the 1980s. He was Chief of Pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor with UWO’s Faculty of Medicine.

Through a long and satisfying retirement, Bob was a champion bird carver, he enjoyed traveling, bird watching, and golf and bridge at the London Hunt & Country Club. He loved to compete and win, and he always liked to inject colour into his wardrobe choices.
