Gordon Leffley
March 2, 2020
Suddenly at home, on Monday, March 2, 2020. Beloved husband of Maria for 41 years. Predeceased by his father Allan. Survived by his mother, Carol; brother, Rob (Carol); sister, Alanna (Bill); brothers-in-law, Charles (Lorrie) and Matt; and sister-in-law, Belinda. Favorite uncle of Taylor (Alex), Richard, Colleen, Melanie, Sean (Marissa), Scott, Adam (Angie); and great-uncle of Grady, Izzy and Rya. Gord delighted in being generous with those he loved, carrying an enormous Santa sack full of thoughtful presents at Christmas and gifts for life’s milestones. His silly sense of humour always made us smile. He spent his lifetime dedicating himself to work at IAPA / WSIB / WSPS and in politics with the NDP. His passions included reading, history and golf. The world is a better place because of his gentle nature and sincere smile. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Gord are asked to consider a children’s charity of their choice.

I'm saddened to hear about Gord's passing. My condolences to Gord's wife and the rest of his family. Glad that I had an opportunity to work with Gord when he was with the IAPA.
My sincerest condolences on Gord's passing. He was such a dedicated professional for health and safety issues. I had the opportunity to work with him for many years through IAPA and CSSE. His gentle manner was a strength when making persuasive suggestions on ways to address H&S concerns and he provided a wealth of helpful knowledge that will be missed by many organizations. May your family memories be a comfort to you in the days ahead.
On Behalf of the New Democrats who knew and cared about Gord, his genuine kindness and caring comes readily to mind. He truly exemplified the belief that we are here to care for each other and advocate for everyone and especially for those who need our support.
So sad to hear about Gord. My heart goes out to his wife Maria and all of his family. I know his mother (my Auntie Carol) is suffering from losing a child. Think of all the good times you had together to help you through the coming days. â¤ï¸
On behalf of the Association, our deepest condolences on Gord's passing. Gord was a good man and a great friend to his colleagues. He was always willing to help and pass on his sage advice. It is always difficult to lose a loved one, but you are left with great memories and warm feelings from a man such as Gord. If there is anything that the Association can do, please reach out.
Dear Maria and family, Please accept my condolences and prayers. I had the privilege of knowing, working with and consider myself a friend of Gord's for over 25 years. We even volunteered together to promote Workplace Safety at the annual competition in Waterloo. I am honoured he used a picture from that event on his LinkedIn page. I enjoyed his company, his insight including his warped sense of humour - not forgetting his enormous amount of Diet Coke consumption :) He and I had many a conversation over H&S programs and approaches to making safer workplaces. I will miss him. Thoughts and prayers to you and the family at this time. With warmest affection, Mary
Gord was so kind and thoughtful. I was a member of the NDP and Gord was the CFO. He couldn't do it anymore, and he took the time to explain the duties and everything involved with being the CFO. He sent me numerous spread sheets and all kinds of things to help me. Gord was a lifesaver for me. I would have not survived 2 years as CFO Federal for London North Centre if Gord was not there to guide me along. It is not an easy job, and I gave up my position in 2 years when I found somebody else to take over. Maria, I am sorry for your loss

Such a thoughtful and kind person, so sad to not be able to discuss ideas and politics with Gord again .
