Jenny Volekaert
February 17, 2020
Beloved Tante and Grantee, Jenny Volekaert, of London, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, February 17, 2020. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and maintained a positive outlook to the very end. Jenny was born on January 23, 1948 in Langemark, Belgium where she lived with her family until immigrating to Canada at an early age. As a young adult, Jenny established her home in London, Ontario and began a career in administration, working many years in government service. Survived by her brother, John (Stephanie); nieces, Lisa and Melissa (Robert); great-niece, Sadie; aunt, Zuster Antonia; and sister-in-law, Anna. Predeceased by her parents, Simonne and Jerome; stepmother, Audrey; and nephew-in-law, Michael. Jenny loved life. She was an incredibly devoted Tante and Grantee. She enjoyed travel, Scrabble, time with her friends, and a good glass of scotch. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Heartfelt ‘thanks’ to her many friends for their support and assistance throughout her battle. You were a great comfort to both Jenny and her family. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jenny are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Deepest condolences to Jenny's family John, Lisa, Melissa and Sadie. I had the pleasure of meeting Jenny at work where we would meet for coffee breaks or lunch and share stories of what was happening in each other's lives at the time. She was a very kind and caring person with a beautiful smile and a great sense of humour! Even though I hadn't had the privilege of meeting her family, I felt like I knew a piece of you as Jenny spoke so very proudly of you all and loved each one of you dearly. Jenny will be forever loved and sadly missed by all who knew her. Goodbye my friend ... Rest In Peace and soar high with the angels. 💖
Dear Vriendenne, My life was better because you were in it. I loved our travels and road trips and excursions and all of the breakfasts, lunches and dinners we shared. I will miss you so very much. Casey and I extend our deepest condolences to all the family - brother John and sister-in-law Stephanie, nieces Lisa and Melissa (Robert) and great-niece Sadie, as well as family members she leaves behind in Belgium, including Zuster Antonia ("Tante Nunne"), who I had the great privilege of meeting. She was very proud of her family and loved you all. She would order an entire roomful of friends to be silent to make sure she didn't miss a word of a call from Sadie - she did so love being Grantee and Tante. RIP dear friend, With love and sadness, Cheryl and Casey McCann
Having worked with Jenny at CRA, I was saddened to hear of her death. I often thought of Jenny as I drove down Riverside Drive, wondering what she might be up to. Jenny was a bright spot on any day we met and she will be surely missed by everyone fortunate enough to be a family member or friend. Rest in peace my friend.
So deeply saddened to hear of Jenny's passing. We met as co-workers which grew into a friendship. We shared our Breast Cancer journeys, sat with Jen through her treatments, had long talks together over a glass of wine, enjoyed having lunch at new places in London, taking the odd day trip. She loved you all so much, John, and Lisa and Melissa. And when little Sadie came along, she was so proud of her. Be comforted by those wonderful menories of the times you shared together. My happy times with Jenny will be the ones I'll hold in my heart. My thoughts are with all of you. Donna.
Jenny, my friend, I will miss you....miss your smile, miss those fabulous Jenny hugs, miss the laughs, the heart-to-hearts, sharing the meals, the outings, your call out to friends to organize "let's just get together". My condolences to all that knew her, all her friends (and there were many) but especially to her family. My deepest sympathy to all her family, her brother John, to her nieces, Lisa and Melissa, that were so much a part of her life and to sweet Sadie, the light of her life. Now we have a new angel to watch over us. Sadly, Deb Bray
