Peacefully and surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the age of 70. Loving wife of Dr. Paul Dickie for 50 years. Cherished mother of Trevor Dickie and Connor Dickie (Molly). Proud grandmother of Gibson. Sadly missed by her mother Marie McCurdy, her siblings Marilee Mason, Barry McCurdy, Douglas McCurdy and Bruce McCurdy, and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father George McCurdy Sr., and siblings Anna Marie Fleming and George McCurdy. Lauren grew up in Amherstburg, Ontario, in a large and loving family. She enrolled in the music program at University of Western Ontario, but switched to medicine after the birth of her first child. She joined the department of radiology at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, specializing in mammography. She was instrumental in bringing the Ontario Breast Screening program to London. In recognition of her contributions and accomplishments, she was awarded the Women of Excellence award from the YMCA/YWCA in 2005. Lauren was a devoted wife and mother to her two beloved sons, Trevor and Connor. She had a wonderful zest for life, and embraced many activities with her family and friends including music, theatre, tennis and skiing. Our family would like to thank the staff at McCormick Home and Memory Lane, and especially Heidi, Helen, Cathy, Gail and Michelle. Lauren would also like to thank her friends Kathy, Mary Lee, Karin, Jane and Steve for their longstanding support and friendship. Dear Paul and family, This past weekend we visited with friends, all of whom had known and/or worked with Lauren. We remembered so fondly her candid humour and directness, her deeply caring soul and her vivacious energy. So many wonderful stories that would warm your heart to hear. Stories that would make you roll with laughter as well as little tidbits about the kindness she showed others. The loss of this brilliant woman when her illness took her away, and now felt in finality, is felt by all of us. So very sorry for loss.
Dear Paul and Family, Our prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Dr. Dickie and Family, I want you to know my thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. I am very sorry for your loss.
Loli was the life and joy of our medical class at Western. She brought energy and passion to everything she involved herself. She knew about our lives, our passions, our struggles. We all know that she will never really "rest". She will forever be planning the next adventure in life, and taking us all along for the amazing ride. We all miss you Loli
I was saddened to hear of Dr. McCurdy's passing. Her compassion to her patients and her devotion to her work was truly evident everyday in everything she did. Someone so special will never be forgotten Our deepest sympathy to all of your family.
Paul and Family: Some people come into our lives and leave footprints in our hearts and minds and we are never the same. Every generation produces a star and 'Loli' was one of the brightest in her generation. I will always remember her energy and that smile in spin class.
I had the pleasure to meet Lauren with Trevor many years ago. She was a strong indent proud mother who was very proud of her sons. The sages teach us that when you lose a parent you lose the past; when you lose a spouse you lose the present; when you lose a child you lose the present; when you lose a friend you lose a part of yourself. I was fortunate enough to have worked with Dr. Lauren McCurdy, starting in 1990 at The Ontario Breast Screening Program on Talbot Street. She was an amazing Radiologists and person. I respected her and learned a lot from her. Her standards were high, but you always strived to meet them, because when you did, you knew you did the best job possible. She always had time to share a laugh with you. Her smile would light up a room. She cared about you, as a person and would ask about you and your family. Dr. McCurdy was deeply missed when she left OBSP. Her devotion to her patients was recognized when these patients would commented on how lovely she was. The Breast Imaging Department at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre was fortunate to have Dr. McCurdy. Dr. Lauren McCurdy in her career changed the lives of many women with respect to breast health, as well as being a caring compassionate person, wife, and mother.
I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Dr McCurdy. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years at Strathroy Hospital. She was a very talented Radiologist and I never met anyone with a sharper wit. Such a dynamic lady. I offer my sincere condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed.
To all of the McCurdy family I wish to send my sincere condolences at the loss of a wonderful neighbour and friend during our teenage years. You were an amazing family and we thought the world of you. Special hello to Barry. Douglas Drouillard
I had the honour of working with Dr McCurdy at St Joes during my student training years, and early in my Radiology career, as a technologist. I now work full time in the Breast Care Centre. I can easily see the legacy that she has left, and the respect that is held high in her honour. In those years that I worked with her, she diagnosed a cancer result with one of my family members. He was very ill by the time we had his testing done with Dr McCurdy. I am forever grateful for her knowledge and expertise that day, as she correctly diagnosed him and he is now a cancer survivor! I pray that you can find peace in the memories that you shared together. May you truly celebrate the person she was, and know that she will forever be remembered. â¤ï¸
She and her sister Marilee were part of young years, We studied piano together at the convent attached to St John the Baptist church. I remember her as stunningly beautiful and intelligent. I send my deepest sadness and hope for peace to her family. Lovingly
So sorry to hear this. Lolly was a talented and inspiring radiologist with whom I was fortunate to work. Her expertise, ability to communicate and impeccable sense of humour were legendary. She will be sorely missed by us as well as the large number of patients and physicians she served. Our heartfelt condolences to Paul, Trevor and Connor as well as her extended family.
Loli was a very lovely, strong and vibrant person with a real zest for life. She was successful and had a great sense of humour. We were in the same class at elementary school and we both attended University of Western Ontario where she met my roommate Paul. The rest is history. Carolyne and I saw them often on their many visits to Whistler and we have many great memories. Carolyne and I send our deepest sympathies. She was a force to all who knew her. Doug & Carolyne Knight
Sincere condolences, may she rest in peace.
Dr Dickie My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.May your cherished memories bring you comfort.
