Lucille ‘Lu’ McClure (nee Baker)

June 10, 2018

On Sunday, June 10th, 2018, Lucille (Lu) passed away, peacefully surrounded by family. Cherished wife of John for nearly 73 years. Loving mother to Suzanne and Doug (Kathy). Best Nana ever to Krys (Kim), Tanya (Lennie), and Jenna, and proud Nana (Lu) to great-grandchildren Kagney, Kache, and Johnathan. She was predeceased by her brother, George Baker. Lu was a dedicated and compassionate nurse with her career culminating as a research assistant to Dr. Bondy. She had been extensively involved with nursing care in the RCAF Air Division in France. Lu was instrumental in the administration efforts to build a new CNIB and, during the course of her life, she also helped the community by being responsible for a facet of the annual church bazaars held by First-St. Andrew’s, and by delivering ‘Meals on Wheels’ for over 35 years. An avid golfer, Lu was captain of the Ladies’ Niners for a year at the Sunningdale Golf Club. We will all miss this extraordinarily kind and caring woman. A Celebration of Lu’s Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Highview Residences for their incredible support, compassion and caring during the past two years. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Lu are asked to consider the CNIB.

Just got a call from Dooreen Dech to tell me the very sad news. I visited with Lucille 2 weeks ago but of course she didn't know who I was But I did get a smile now & again during that visit. Just held her hand & chatted to her. As always she looked well groomed & dressed beautifully. How I will miss her. She was one of the most special people I have ever met & it was a pleasure to have her as a client for her hair for over 20 years. Beautiful, caring, kind, generous an oh such a lady. We had so very many wonderful conversations over the years. To all the family & especially John, I extend my sympathies as I know how much she was loved & will be missed. The world has lost a gem of a lady who did so much for so many. Rest in peace beautiful Lucille, your journey here is over. Well done.

To the most special of real life guardians angels one could have. You held me when i cried and wiped my tears away, you gave me laughter and joy when i was having an average day. Mrs McClure your significance in my life is and always will be unforgettable in only a positive way. You and Mr. McClure have helped shaped the way I see the world. Your authenticity has grounded me to which i continue to live. My heart dearly goes out to you Mr.McClure, so with that i give you hugs and love all the way from Tasmania. Krys please share my love to you and rest of the family. Mrs. McClure, you are always my guardian angel giving me smiles, love and care, as you have since i was 4. I still use your monogram key chain you gave me 21 yrs ago, and always have a spirited smile when i see a cookie jar as you so proudly ensured it was filled for Mr. McClure ... and the rest. I have 45 yrs of love and memories. Love always Bruce Davis

I have just found out about Lu's passing. An incredible lady who touched my family's life for many decades. On behalf of the Hammond family: Paddy, Jill and Melanie, our deepest condolences... I just found out at 20 minutes before the service, otherwise I am sure we would have attended. Our love to John and the entire family. Jill, Paddy and Melanie
