Margaret Rankine Hodges (nee Hay)
March 22, 2018
We lost a very special lady on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018. Margaret Rankine (Hay) Hodges, in her 91st year, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at her home at the Longworth Retirement Residence. Predeceased by her husband Reginald Hodges (1999), her eldest son, Gregg Hodges (2010), her sister, Elizabeth (Hay) Cooper (1989) and her sister-in-law, Jane Hay (2017). Loving mother and best friend of Barbara and John Farr, John and his wife Eleanor, Blair and his wife Lisa, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hodges. Dearly missed by her sister, Isabella Macleod and her brother, Peter Hay. Cherished beyond measure, “Gramz” will be dearly missed by Matt (Cassandra) Farr, Wes Hodges, Barb (Mark) Vandersluis, Lindsay (Craig) Whitehead, Deanna (Andrew) Morton, Jennifer (John) Vecchio, Kellie Hodges and her fiancé Chris Spence, Chelsea Hodges, and Casey and Colton Mason. Beloved “Great-Gramz” of George, Frankie, Islay Margaret, Addie, Becca, Oliver, Kaylee, Alice, William Gregg, Layla and Adley. Mom will be sorely missed by her dear friend Art Gilbert and many other friends and family. If one is measured by the legacy she leaves behind, Mom would get top marks. She created a family foundation of love that has led to generations of love. A kind, caring, compassionate, strong and determined woman, the loss of our family matriarch leaves a hole in our hearts and a void in our family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., with visitation two hours prior. A special thank you to all of the staff at Longworth Retirement Residence for their care and compassion. The family extends a thank you to Dr. Hamilton and the staff involved with the EDITH program. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Margaret are asked to consider ReForest London or the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Leave a tribute for Margaret Rankine Hodges (nee Hay)
Leave a tribute
To Marg's family: I am the oldest daughter of Ina (Findlay) Flanders and want to extend my sympathy to you on her passing. Mom and Marg exchanged Christmas cards until recent years and we would hear any news about her and we would all see Marg at the Findlay summer picnics at Springbank Park. I remember her being a lovely, fun person and always smiling. If mom was still with us, she would be very sad to hear this news. Mom passed away June 29, 2017. My sincere sympathy to you all. Marj
Our sincere condolences on the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. May your loving memories help to fill the void she will leave in your lives.
