David Richard Hammond
November 20, 2017
Passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20th, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the age of 68. Survived by his loving parents, Tom and Lil Hammond; sister, Dianne Marchand; and special “Aunt” Elaine Corrin. Forever loved and missed by his partner, Connie Lavery. Proud Dad of Kurt (Jana), Dean (Alex) and Mark (Amanda). Step-father of Linzi, Sarah and Amanda (Nathan). Brother-in-law of Mary Schonewille (Arny). Cherished Papa of Brody, Mackenzie, Jack, Libby, Christopher, Ben, Molly, Vanessa, Oliver, Rylee and Blake. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Dave has been reunited with his favourite blonde – his beloved golden retriever, Wrigley. He is hopeful that there is a baseball team in Heaven needing a pitcher. Dave started Hammond Pools in 1972 and also worked at the Ford Plant in Talbotville, where he retired from after 26 years. He was a really hard worker who enjoyed working with his boys building swimming pools. Dave was an all-around athlete who played Junior Hockey for the Strathroy Rockets, university football at the University of Waterloo, was a professional baseball player for the Detroit Tigers organization, and played baseball for Chester Pegg Diamonds and the London Majors. A private Interment and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the Oncology and Radiology teams at LHSC/LRCP and CCAC and the Palliative Care team who were so supportive in Dave’s last days. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dave are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program.
