Dr. John Edgar Curtis

Born March 22, 1937 in Truro, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, son of Edgar Marshall Curtis and Ella Antoinette Ferrand. He was married in 1963 to Dorothy Bernice Fournier. John graduated in Medicine from Dalhousie University that same year. He went on to study Hematology at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. From 1970 until 1998, John practiced medicine at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Subsequently, he led the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre until completing his career as the Director of the London Regional Cancer Program. He remained active in public service through work with the London Salvation Army and as a member of the Alzheimer Society of London and Middlesex. He is predeceased by his wife Dorothy, who passed in 1997, five years after the untimely death of their first son Peter John Curtis. He is survived by his son Philip Edgar Curtis and his wife Irina; and by his son John Andrew Curtis and his wife Lisa, and their children Ella and Peter. He is also survived by his brothers Gary Marshall Curtis, David Ferrand Curtis and their families. John is remembered fondly by many former patients, colleagues, family and friends. The funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of London and Middlesex or the Canadian Cancer Society.

I met Dr Curtis in windsor as a patient of his in 98. He was warm caring and compassionate. Because of his care I was able to see my sons getting marrried and enjoy my grandchildren. When another doctor said that was all they could do Dr Curtis didn t give up on me. He will always be remembered in my wife and my prayers and in our hearts. He was a great doctor and a great man. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family
John was an open-minded searcher of the truth and a very interesting man to know. We always enjoyed our interaction at Riverside United Church. Condolences to the family. Blessings

I work at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. I remember Dr. Curtis quite well. He was such a kind man and adored by all his patients. I was saddened to learn of his passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Janet Davis Windsor Regional Cancer Centre.
My deepest sympathy on the loss of Dr. Curtis. We worked together in Windsor for the years that he was here. He was lovely man and had a kind and caring manner with our patients. Ella was born during his time here with us and he was so, so excited to finally have a grandchild! We will remember him with fondness and admiration for the love of his work but always for his family.
