Roy Gago Dias
June 25, 2017
Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, June 25th, 2017, Roy Dias passed away in his 50th year. Loving husband of Yolanda Dias (née Huizinga) for 21 years. Cherished father of Jacob and Benjamin. Son of Susana Dias and predeceased by his father Joaquim (Jack) Dias (1990). Roy will be sadly missed by his sister Susan Bettencourt (Jose), his father-in-law and mother-in-law Abel and Pieternella (Nel) Huizinga, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kenneth and Sandra Huizinga, and Christopher and Yvonne Le Tissier. Beloved uncle to Joshua, Luke, Devin (1998), Troy, Luke, Bailey, Sydney, Sarah, and Morgan. He will be sorely missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Roy was born, raised, and educated in London. He met the woman of his dreams and they wed in 1996. He will be remembered by the many clients that he faithfully served as both a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in a career that spanned over two decades. Special thanks to Dr. Vincent, the dedicated caregivers at the London Regional Cancer Program, Dr. Ko of Sunnybrook in Toronto, and Dr. Kemeny of Sloan-Kettering in New York. Roy felt humbled by the support, kind words, and prayers that were bestowed upon himself and his family. He was excited to observe his sons develop into young men. He never felt that he was battling cancer as that would only lead to anger. He thanked God for allowing him to live a somewhat full life even when dealing with the illness that marked the last five years of his life. Visitors will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at TALBOT STREET CHURCH, 513 Talbot Street, London at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30th, 2017. Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Talbot Street Church – GROW Fund or London Regional Cancer Program – Access Cancer Therapies (ACT) Now would be appreciated.
