With her family by her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, Mrs. Maria Manuela Furtado of London in her 65th year. Beloved wife of almost 40 years to Tony. Loving mom and friend of Marlene Brandao (Mike), Kelly Akindolire (Jay) and Shawn Furtado. Dear sister of Louis Simas, Gary Simas and the late Tony Medeiros. Proud “Avo” of Kianna, Mattieus and Tatum. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Maria are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice of London.

I had the privledge of meeting Manuela (and Tony) at Rowntree Park. It is heartbreaking to say goodbye so soon to such a kind and beautiful person. The time she had here with the people she loved so dearly was far too short, but I know the memories that each of us have of our time with her will forever stay with us. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss.

It seems just like yesterday that we met, when our children were just dating and now many years have passed. Through the union of our children I was honoured to share many special occasions with Manuela and her loving family, for which I am truly grateful and will cherish the memories always. It has been a joy knowing you and I will miss you. Until we meet again, rest in peace dear Manuela. My heart goes out to you Tony, Marlene, Kelly, Shawn and your entire family. So many memories of my beautiful Prima Manuela, we would all be together every summer the whole family having fun and going to the camp ground with Tia Edgarda, we haven't been to Canada in a long time life is so crazy but our heart has always missed my family in London. I cannot believe this happened you are no longer suffering you are with your mom, dad and your brother Tony. My heart goes out to Antonio, Marlene, Kelly, Shawn, Louis, Gary, grand children, nieces, nephews, everyone all the cousins and our family.
