Dr. Neville M. Lefcoe
January 11, 2015
Dr. Neville Lefcoe passed away at Earls Court Village on Sunday, January 11, 2015 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Marilyn. Loving father to Daniel (Cheryl), Robert, Jane and Andrew; stepfather of Adrienne (Tony) and Holly; survived by his brother Michael (Barbara); dear grandfather to Lauren, Alexandra, Benjamin, Max, Michelle, Erin, Nicholas and Marissa; predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bessie, and step-daughter Kathryn (Steve). Neville completed his B.Sc. in Biology at McGill University and continued to Vanderbilt University Medical School, graduating in 1950. He then moved to Boston to complete his post graduate residency at Harvard Medical School. He came to London to start his career in Respirology, establishing the first pulmonary function lab at Victoria Hospital. He was awarded a lifetime membership in the Ontario Medical Association for his contributions to medical science. An active researcher, he published numerous papers related to lung disease and smoking cessation. As a professor at Western University, from 1960, Neville enjoyed contributing to the education of future physicians. One of Neville’s passions outside of work was golf: he was a long-standing member of Sunningdale Golf & Country Club. He loved being out on the links and golfed into the season before his death. Neville was multi-talented: an all-star track and field athlete at McGill, he also played the saxophone and clarinet. In his youth he played in a band with Oscar Peterson and Maynard Ferguson in Montreal. Neville was a kind-hearted, intelligent and humorous man who always had a funny story to share. He was well loved by all who knew him, and will be dearly missed. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Lefcoe on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club, 465 Sunningdale Road West, London. Guests are welcome beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the celebration service at 12:00 p.m.

Dear Marilyn I was very sad to read of Neville's passing. There were so many dinners and chats with both of you on Gardenvale Crescent and those are exceptionally fond memories. How quickly time passes.
Hello I am researching a family tree and noticed that we are related through my great Aunt Risha Keila Zuchovitsky (Zax) and my grandfather, Hyman Zax. I am the surviving daughter of Shirley Zax and I grew up in Brookline, MA. I have vague memories of meeting my cousin, Daniel from Ontario when I was a little girl. I am very sorry for your loss, but I am delighted to reconnect. Best, Deborah Friedman

Dear Marilyn,Michael and family: Saddened to read of Neville's passing. Many pleasant memories of him as a colleague and golfing partner. Once when someone in the group hit an errant shot he said to me " If you play with us long enough, be prepared to accept the risk of blunt form trauma". A truly kind friend who will be very much missed
