Died peacefully at home in London on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Dear brother of Marguerite Booth of Barrie, Ontario, where John lived his early years, Beverley Barnes (Ron) of Kelowna, BC, Paul Duval (Janet) of Georgetown, Ontario, and predeceased by brother Brooke Duval. Dear uncle and great-uncle to many, who remember his love for them and sense of humour. A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Spring interment at Barrie Union Cemetery.

My heart is heavy today as I learn of John's passing, and my thoughts are with each of you who mourn and remember. John was an incredibly special man who came into our lives the day our daughter Jordan moved into his apartment building while attending university in London. John welcomed her, they chatted awhile and a beautiful friendship began. On more than one occasion I was privileged to sit down and chat with John as well, and I will always remember his stories, his laughter and his kind and generous spirit...I will always be grateful for his willingness to be there for Jordan...to pick her up at the train station, to offer rides to school and job interviews, to care for her like she was family and to be there for her when her father died. For showing that there are no limits to friendship...thank you, John! May the next part of your journey be filled with the laughter, love and friendship that you shared so willingly in this lifetime...and may your family and loved ones find healing and comfort in their memories of you.
