Vaughan and I send our sincere condolences the Marg and the family. We were saddened to learn of Ray's passing on Sunday. He was a great help to us at Saunders, where we first met Ray and made us always feel welcomed. He made teaching fun and was so well liked by students and staff alike with his great sense of humour. Jane and Vaughan
Marg Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We will always remember Ray Jan & Harvey Fife
Ray was a man who had a huge impact on my life and career. A rough demeanor couldn't mask the compassionate and caring individual that many of us had the privilege to know and share for a period in our lives. Football Coach, mentor and friend Ray will hold a very special place in my memory. Marg my thoughts are with you and your family
Mr Masterson was one of those truly memorable people whose kindness, compassion and understanding helped me through high school and turbulent family times. I have never forgotten him and have thought of him often through the years. He was a remarkable man. I am lucky to have known him. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
Mr. Masterson was my math and geography teacher when I went to Lucas. He was always kind and supportive. There were days when his pep talks were the only thing that got me through. Whenever I talk to friends from high school we always talk about Bat and what a great teacher he was.. Thoughts and prayers are with you Brian and your family. God Bless
"Bat" was one of those people you never forget. Although the Saunders Secondary years seem so long ago (and they are)I remember Mr.Masterson as a person who told it like it was, made the class more eventful and always seemed to find the time for you if you needed it! He may not have been LARGE in stature, but he commanded the respect of the students in a BIG way!I seem to recall that he always wore a whistle hanging by a strap around his neck, decked out in his athletic shirt and track pants walking the halls of the school.Funny the things you remember....... My best wishes to the family for their own good memories!
Dear Margaret and your family, sending my sincere sympathy to you and your family, may God comfort you all at this very sad time.I will be forever sorry that l didn't get to spend more time in his company and enjoy his wonderful sense of humour.Keep all your wonderful memories and pictures close by ,keeps them close to us .Once again so sorry .Betty and l will have to come for a visit one time. Joyce
Dear Marg and Family, Murray and I will be forever grateful to Ray for the many years that he was such a huge part in the life of our son Jason. We know Ray will forever be missed. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on your loss. Murray and Linda Ratz
My sincere condolences. Marg, you sent a special message to me last year when my husband, Marcus Birch, passed away. I also went to Lucas but only knew Mr. Masterson to see him in the hallways. "Bat" always had a special place in Marcus' heart. He truly looked up to him and respected him, as a teacher, as a coach, and as a driver's ed instructor. He was a special man and I know you will miss him very much.
Ray was a very special person loved and never forgotten by anyone who knew him.Our prayers and condolences to Marg.and family.
Our condolences to Marg and family. Fond memories of Bat and my school days at Glendale High school in Tillsonburg. Bat was my wrestling coach. Good times will always be remembered.
I read this announcement and 100's of wonderful memories flooded back. Your Husband/Dad was the type of educator every student should be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to encounter during their schooling. His patience and humour, not to mention his guidance and counsel were gifts he shared with everyone he met. In the formative years of Saunders Secondary School he faced the challenges of portable classrooms and shared resources like a champ. I can't even imagine how that must have been so difficult..yet he was instrumental in developing that school's spirit in it's infancy. My heartfelt sympathy as you say farewell to the head of your family. He was a quiet, lovely man with great wisdom and insight into the human condition. I will never forget my brother Paul, having been in several of his classes coming home and sharing Masterson 'Rules for Life'...."You must you cologne in addition to a shower...not instead of a shower......Sex is something you are...not something you do"...perfect advice to young students...and shared with future generations would still be right on the mark. Safe journey Mr. Masterson...you truly were one of the GREAT ones.
Coach Masterson was a beloved teacher and mentor to many at Saunders HS. A tough exterior and challenging demeanor masked his very caring and thoughtful true nature, contributing to many a student's growth and maturity through high school. We were lucky to have him at our school. My condolences to Marg and the kids. Thinking of you all with fond memories.
