Kaye Marie Harries (Martin)

November 11, 2014

Born in a massive snow storm in St. Marys in 1943, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014. Kaye, a universally-loved teacher, mother and friend recently returned home to London from an exciting trip around the Mediterranean. Kaye will be forever missed by her daughter Sarah, son-in-law Ryan Kimber, and close family: Mary, Steve, Paul and Jane, Linda and John, Lisa, Jim, Kate, Jenny, and Chris, as well as her wonderful neighbours, friends and the teaching and craft communities in which she was so actively involved. We will be forever grateful for the 71 years of learning, storytelling, theatre-going, crafting, travel and friendship that Kaye had to give to the world. All are welcome and encouraged to enjoy a celebration of Kaye’s life at the RiverBend Golf Community Clubhouse, 1200 Sandy Somerville Drive, London, on Sunday, November 23rd from 1:30 – 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Sarah and Ryan are asking friends to make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Sarah and Ryan, Kaye and I were great friends in high school and spent lots of time together. Her parents, Marj and George, were so welcoming to visitors - it was a special treat to go there for a visit, preferably to spend the night. We didn't manage to keep in touch as much as we should have as the years passed but what I knew for certain whenever we were in contact was that she was enormously proud of you and your accomplishments. You made her very happy. Mary Smith, St. Marys

A gifted teacher and talented artist in her own right, Kaye touched the lives of so many children in her long and successful career. I admired her happy spirit and devotion to her only daughter, Sarah. She will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have been a part of her wide circle of friends.

Sarah & Ryan, May memories of her continue to forever fill and nurture you with warmth, strength and tender-hearted encouragement.

Dear Sarah and Family We are saddened to hear of your loss. Your mom was a very caring and loving person who had a most generous heart! I can reflect on so many good times with her and the neighbours on the court. Regretfully I missed my last opportunity to see her a couple of months ago and we didn't have a chance to schedule another visit! Anyone who knew her was blessed in many ways. Your mom was full of life, eager to connect with people and had a very special way about her. Even though I didn't see her regularly she definitely had a special place in my heart and I will miss her! My heart aches for you...with love - Rose (auntie Rose) xo
