Roy Allan Cope, CA, DFC

Peacefully at University Hospital on August 4, 2014, Roy Allan Cope passed away in his 92nd year with his family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Laurel (2008). Loving and devoted father of Sheila and David LeClair and Carol and Henry Pieters. Loving and much-loved Bubba of Tara and Scott Pegg and Jenna and David Chilton. He revelled in his role of Great-Bubba to Emma and Georgia Pegg. Roy will also be missed by his niece Edna McKim and nephew Robert Cope. Roy was a veteran of WWII, serving in the RCAF as a Flying Officer (Navigator) in 103rd Squadron (RAF). He completed 35 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was the Superintendent of Business for 19 years with the London and Middlesex County Roman Catholic Separate School Board until his retirement in 1986. An avid musician and athlete, Roy was the recipient of numerous awards and trophies throughout his life. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. George’s Cemetery, Hyde Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Mall and the nurses and support workers on 8th Floor North UH for their caring and support over Roy’s long recovery. We would also like to thank the kindness shown to Roy by the nurses of the Palliative Care unit on 6th North. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the “YMCA of London Foundation, Building Fund, London Normal School” or “St. Joseph’s Hospice London.”
