Peter Joseph Sleegers

Passed away suddenly at his condo in Florida on April 5, 2014 in his 77th year. First son of Henry (2001) and Gerda (2004), Peter is survived by his loving long-time partner Susan Pratt (sons Murray (Lori) and Rodney, grandchildren Cassandra, Austin and Bryson Pratt), brothers and sisters Tony (2012) and Mary, Bill and Irma, John and Dorothy, Annette, Harry and Anna Marie, Joke (1947), Joe (Inez 1993) and Lori, Gerry, Al, Louis and Joanne, Jackie and Mike, as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins both in Canada and in Holland. Peter was involved in two enterprises that continue to evolve today; founder of a SLEEGERS Group of Companies (1963), and co-founder of the EDPRO Group of Companies (1997). Peter enjoyed his winter months in Florida at his condo on Marco Island, and his summers at his farm in London, ON or at his beloved Wingfoot Island on Lake Temagami. Peter will be missed by his family, his friends, and his close business associates.
Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, April 13th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHEDRAL BASILICA, 196 Dufferin Avenue (corner of Richmond), London, on Monday, April 14th at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. Peter was a dear friend to us and we will miss him. We shared many good times with him and Sue here in Marco island. His wit and honesty was enjoyable and we all had many laughs together. May he rest in Peace.
Pete was a dear friend and a good story teller. We especially enjoyed his stories of life at Wingfoot on Lake Temagami and how he out foxed the beavers. Thinking of Peter brings a smile to my face. There are so many fond memories and experiences that made Peter really unique and loved. He truly was one of a kind and will be truly missed. My deepest condolences to Sue, brother Bill and all the family.

We met Pete several times while visiting our parents, Joan and Victor Rios in Marco Island and enjoyed several Boat rides, Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations with Pete and Sue, He was a dear friend of our parents and we like to express our sincere condolences to Sue and the Sleegers' family.
