Mirko Pasic

October 10, 2013

Peacefully, with family by his side at The Village of Glendale Crossing, London, on Thursday, October 10th, 2013 in his 89th year.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Beloved husband of Janja (née Knezic) for 57 years.  Loving father of Dan (Lorie) and Marko.  Adoring and adored “Jedo” of Mikhial and Nicholas.  Dearly missed by brothers Branko (Trojana), Djuro, Dusan (Jovanka), Radomoir (Ivka); his sister Dragica (Robert); and by his numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family both in Canada and abroad:  he treasured them all.  Predeceased by his parents Djuro and Todora, sister Djuka and sister-in-law Janja.  A proud Canadian since immigrating in 1951 and lifelong Maple Leafs fan, and Team Canada supporter, Mirko never shied away from striking up a conversation with a friendly face which served him well throughout his life, in particular during his days as a letter carrier for Canada Post.  Special thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers at The Village of Glendale Crossing for their kindness, care and compassion.  Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:45 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 5567 Wonderland Road South, London, on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mirko are asked to consider the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church Building Fund.

It was an absolute honour to care for Mike during my time at Glendale. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He would never pass up an opportunity to talk about how proud he was of them. He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed dearly. He was known for sitting in the open tv area at Glendale and every time we walked past he would call out, "you ok?". I would reply "I'm ok Mike how about you", he often then replied "shitty". But that was Mike. Always making people smile.

Marko, I'm sad to hear of the passing of your father. I remember your father as a friendly gentle man who always wanted to know how you were doing and engage in conversation. I can still hear his accented voice calling me, "Mister Young, how are you doing?". He sure loved to talk about the leafs or the Russian hockey system. There's no doubt that his joy of banter lives on strong with you.

My memories of Mr. Pasic are as a teenager attending high school with the Pasic boys. I remember him as an engaging man who always greeted me with a smile on his face and a knowing glint in his eye. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the Pasic family and I know that his spirit endures with the rest of you.
