Clarkie was a loyal, genuine guy who loved hockey but most importantly loved people. He cared and he absolutely loved seeing people happy. A great team guy and always asked about your family and how you were doing. We shared many laughs together at the rinks or in scouting meetings. He brought a very unique passion to the game and was a quiet, but fierce competitor. An absolute pleasure to know him and work with him and will miss him dearly. A real good hockey guy and a great person. Will always remember our years working together in Peterborough. My deepest sympathies to Greg's family. He will be missed and there will only be one Clarkie!

Karen, Gina and Jamie -- I am really sorry to hear of Greg's passing, and my thoughts and condolences are with you. I only met Greg the one time last summer, but he seemed like a great person, and based on the notes above, will be missed by many.

~ Carrie Musgrave

I was shocked to hear of Greg's passing. He has been a fixture in the rinks since I started in the hockey business and always looked forward to seeing him. He was an easy guy to find, you just had to look for the table full of scouts before a game and you could bet Clarkie would be there making them laugh with a story or one of his impressions! He will be missed by everyone. My condolences to his family, the world lost a good man on Saturday

Karen and family, i was saddened to receive the email of Greg"s passing. I will miss seeing him at the rink, especially the times where after a game we would go out for dinner, maybe to Angels Diner in Brantford for their famous rice pudding, or tu would set up a dinner @ Joes Diner in Stratford, for Muzz, Barber, Louie, Robbie, and a bunch of guys. The whole restaurant were watching and laughing along with us. Its great times like this i will remember him by. Browny.

Clarkie was my roommate for 7 years of Petes scouting meetings, training camps and drafts. We had a lot of fun in those years. Clarkie started halfway through the season before I was hired, so we kind of leanred a lot together - I think he may have even took me under his wing. Peterborough was an origanization immersed in tradition and could be very intimidating - especially for me, a young rookie scout full of opinions that often got me in trouble, and Clarkie was often what got me through it. Whether it was backing me up on a player or cracking wise about another comment around the meeting room table, Clarkie always knew when was the right time to make us laugh, and when to tell me to let it go. His experiences helped shape the type of scout and the type of coach I became, and for that I will always be truly grateful. Clarkie made all of us a closer scouting team, every year, he had gone out of his way to make for each one of us a copy of "Clarkie's Christmas Carols" one of which had a rendition of Porky Pig doing Blue Christmas that will forever make me laugh and remember my big hearted friend. Whether it was a homemade copy of Steve Earle's greatest hits, or the latest gossip from the rinks, he made our Petes family a little closer each time we saw him. Those days may be gone, but those memories will always be with those of us who loved him. As much as I know Greg was 100% dedicated to the Sting last season, I know his heart would always be in those years when we worked for the Petes, and I know how proudly he wore that 2006 championship in his heart. My deepest condolences to Karen and family, I know he is somewhere, smiling down on all the life and laughter he brought to those he touched. I won't start any more wars I can't win Clarkie...

Karen, Gina and James my deepest condolences. Clarkie will be missed by all that knew him. To Karen and Family, I am really sad to learn that Greg has passed on..He was a guy of great energy and intelligence..I liked that he was a "street smart" dude..One of our last conversations centered on my idea of opening a B&B in my present hometown..Greg told me some stories that focused on the "Don't do its" !!!..I didn't but I did not have the opportunity to thank Greg..Because of Greg's kindness and care of Karen ,he was tops in my books..I always enjoyed Greg as my dental hygiene patient..I miss all you McGill/Lynds family members..Please know that you are in my heart and in my prayers..Hugs,Dawn Cumming.

Greg was a man of high integrity and character , probably , one of the most loyal people that I have met in hockey ! His passion for scouting hockey and for people in general was very unique . Greg had a true love of hockey and was always in a good mood and really brightened the day of anyone that interacted with him . He will be sorely missed as a colleague , but more so as a friend !!! A very sad day in the hockey world !!!

~ Jeff Twohey

I had the honour of working with Clarkie on the Security team at the St. Thomas Airshow. He was my right hand man, and I don't know what I would have done without him. He had a way with people that was amazing, he never let a chance to scout new talent go to waste. Greg will be greatly missed, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
