Doris Mae Young
February 14, 2012
In her 90th year, Doris passed away peacefully and without pain on Monday, February 13th, 2012 at Parkwood Hospital. David and Andrea were together by her side immediately prior to her passing. Doris was the wife of Rev. Canon Allan Young (predeceased in 1992), mother of David Young, Andrea (Bill) Yurkiw and the loving grandma of Kyle and Cole Yurkiw. Doris worked diligently supporting her husband’s work as an Anglican priest for over 35 years. She was also a Foster Parent with London Children’s Aid for more than 11 years, fostering more than 50 children. She spent many enjoyable times at her cottage in Muskoka with her extended family. She loved travelling and camping and was always willing to share her knowledge with her grandchildren. She had great relationships with her nieces and nephews and will be missed by everyone with whom she had contact. There will be a celebration of her life at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 249 Hamilton Road, on Saturday, February 18th at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Thank you to all of the staff at Para-Med, University Hospital (9th floor orthopaedics) and the Palliative Care team (3AE) at Parkwood Hospital for your loving care and concern. Special thank you to Christine, Gloria and Cammilia from Para-Med for your years of loving care. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doris are asked to consider a charity of your choice.
