Went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011. There she awaits her husband, Ian, and their family, Margaret (Jim), John, and Paul (Martha). Her grandchildren, Christopher Hannay, Stewart, and Meredith will miss her love and humour. Jean, daughter of Earl and Margaret Ferris, was born in Glammis, Ontario, on April 1, 1930. Her brother Bob (Joan), still lives there. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto’s Trinity College in 1952 and the Ontario College of Education in 1953. She taught in Clinton, Arva, and London where her dedication to student learning was recognized with the Bishop Townsend Teaching Award. She was an active and creative member of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 568 Richmond Street, London, on Sunday, October 9th, 2011 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Sheldon Dyck and Father Bill White will officiate. Private family interment will be held in Tiverton Cemetery at a later date. If desired, a donation in Jean’s memory can be directed to First Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.

Ian, we were so sorry to learn of Jean's passing. We have such lovely memories of her and enjoyed her sense of humour and her warm hospitality. A very fine lady who'll be greatly missed.
Dear Ian, I am sad to hear of Jean's passing but I know as you do that she is in the presence of her Lord and ours. I know she was your dearest friend and companion and she will be greatly missed. I have fond memories of her. Yours in Christ Barbara
It is with sadness we learned of Jean's death.We have pleasant memories of social times that included her.I have happy memories of her excellent talent and support as a staff member at Westminster S.S.Our prayer is that your memories of happy family times will strengthen you at this time. sincerely Ed
We remember Jean as that girl & woman with a sense of fun and a vitality that was infectious.. We knew her at college and here in London (not seeing her often, but when we did...fun). We give Ian and all her family our condolences, prayers, and best wishes. John & Gayle Smallbridge

We were away for the weekend and so unable to attend the visitation, but our thoughts are with you and your family. I have many happy memories of working with Jean at Laurier,particularly her wonderful sense of humour. Bill
