HOBBS, Valerie – It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Valerie Eileen Hobbs on Sunday, July 24th, in her 75th year. Beloved wife and best friend of Ron Hobbs for 54 years. Cherished mother of Ian (Betty) Hobbs and Kim (John) Staikos. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Mathew, William, Ben and Sarah. Dearest sister to Dave (Val) Hone and sister-in-law to Jean (David) Elderfield. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Karen (Dave) McAskell, Serena (Mat) Neale, Kirsti Fenn (Andrew Lee) and Andrew (Stefanie) Hone and Stuart (Jenny) Hone. Val was an active participant in the community, which included the Kilworth United Church, St. John’s Pet Therapy program and the Sherwood Forest Library Reading Program with their dog Misty. Val was also actively involved with the Women’s Canadian Club. Her family and many friends will fondly remember her for her incredible smile, sense of humor, joy of life and fun loving nature. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28th between 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Funeral service will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to sincerely thank the Clinical Neurosciences team, Dr. David Macdonald and his team of staff at the London Regional Cancer Center and the Victoria Hospital palliative care team for organizing Val’s transfer home. A special mention to the VON palliative care team and our primary nurse Pauline for supporting Val and the family through the dying process, achieving a peaceful death in her own home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VON-Palliative Care Team, Brain Tumour Foundation, or the Cancer Clinic would be greatly appreciated.

We have lost a very special lady from our lives. Val's sunny spirit uplifted many and could make any day seem brighter just by chatting with you. My deepest condolences on you loss.
We were so very sorry Ron to hear of Val's passing from Mike and Wendy in Bayfield. We have not been up to Bayfield but a couple of times this summer so far so noticed just this past Saturday that you and Val and Misty were missing from the group. We will miss Val's smile and friendly chit chat as she made our whole family feel welcome with the bunch at the town docks. Our hearts go out to you and your family Ron at this very sad time and we will keep you all in our prayers. With sincere sympathy, Darryl, Cathy, Matt, Jason and Pepper of Triton-Dock #11
