Helga Otton
February 28, 2011
OTTON, Helga Elisabeth – Peacefully, Monday, February 28, 2011 at South Huron Hospital, Exeter in her 67th year. Best friend, loving wife, business partner, and soulmate of Allan Otton (Oz) of Grand Bend, Ontario. Sadly missed by daughters, Heather Baker (Marty) and Brenda Wroe (Kevin). Gramma will watch over her adored grandchildren Erik, Luke, and Holly, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Predeceased by parents Elisabeth and Julius Lupke, and sister Sigrid Kis (Stan). Helga is also missed by Julius and Hildegard Lupke, Margaret Otton, and numerous friends. Whenever Helga arrived, she was followed shortly by her companions, fun and excitement. There was never a question of ‘glass half full or half empty’ for her; it was always brimming. If someone spent time with Helga and didn’t smile, they’re just not a smiler. Helga had a great love for the natural habitat of the Great Lakes, which she combined with her artistic talents, giving her great pleasure and considerable recognition. Her other great loves were cooking, long walks, dancing, traveling, theatre, music, and gatherings of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview, on Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ken Taylor officiating, followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London and a luncheon reception at Westview.
The exceptional care provided to Helga during her illness by numerous, dedicated and empathetic professionals is greatly appreciated.

To Oz and Family, So sorry to hear of Helga's passing while we were out of the country. I would wish her no suffering. Please know that you all are in my thoughts. There are people in my life who come and go. Helga remained, eventhough we didn't get to see each other in person very often. Years could go by, but we could just as easily talk and catch up instantly. Helga's beautiful floral paintings grace our home and bring us a lot of joy each day. I will fondly remember her elegance, spirit, and kindness. Please take care of each other. Sincerely, Karen Sweeney and Family

Dear Al and Family, Our lives have been enriched by Helga and her joyful spirit. We always enjoyed her company and came away laughing. We only learned about how courageous Helga was in the last year as she battled this terrible disease. Helga cheered us up when we were calling to see how she was doing with her struggle. Helga was a sparkler and we will miss her. Warmest personal regards, Debra and Bob

We will miss Helga's smiles and waves from across the street. She always mentioned our "beautiful girls" and how much she enjoyed watching them grow up. She cautioned me to be careful hanging our Christmas decorations more than once! She truly knew how to make people feel like they mattered. Her passing is a great loss to our Grand Bend community.
