Peacefully at Parkwood Institute, on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the age of 65. Cherished husband of Mary Ellen. Proud father of Jeff Hartling (Katie) and Derek. Beloved grandfather of Quinn. Dear brother of Nancy Hartling (Don), Melanie Phillips (Al) and Cathy Baragar (Scott). Treasured uncle of Marc, Melissa, Ryan, Cindy, Amelia, Jennifer, Colin, Brian, Kathleen, Kristen and Mike. Survived by in-laws, Rita Vande Wetering, Bill Vande Wetering (Cathy), Elizabeth Pilot (Bruce) and Joanne Harding (Kevin). Missed by his aunt, Avis Turner and her family. Predeceased by his parents, James Freeman Hartling and Gretchen Hartling; brother David Hartling; sister Valerie and father-in-law John Vande Wetering. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Registration is required to attend the visitation and Celebration of Life at Westview Funeral Chapel.

Regardless of any situation Jim maintained a positive spirit and a level of maturity well beyond his age. Unfortunately we lost touch once he and his family moved from Wallace (my regret). For over 10 years I knew Jim from our pool league at Hustler Billiards, first as an opponent and then as a team mate.
