Howard SwerdfegerI am so sorry for your loss. Sascha was a great man, I will always remember staying up with him to all hours of the night debating philosophy, morality and ethics. He was a light in this world, which is a little bit dimmer without him. I am saddened by his passing. I hope you find comfort and solace.
Uzma GhoryDearest Heidi - I am so so sad to hear this news and so so sorry for your loss. Sascha was one of my best friends and i am who I am today, because of his friendship. We spent so many days and nights talking and playing pranks around the city of San Francisco, driving off to strange addresses to chase full moon parties in the middle of the night. He was kind and funny and he never once had anything bad to say about anyone. I could say anything to him, nothing fazed him. He even introduced me to my husband. He was an amazing friend and I can’t believe he’s gone. I will remember him forever. Sending you lots of love, Uzma (aka “Zia”)
Chris LeleHeidi, I'm so sad to hear of Sascha's passing. My heartfelt condolences to you at this difficult moment. I first met Sascha nearly 20 years ago, and right off the bat we fell into a deep conversation on the nature of time. Many years later we were still having these late night philosophical conversations, but by then he had become a lifelong friend for his blend of warmth, kindness, and endearing goofiness. My wife (Uzma) and I already miss him dearly and will be eternally grateful for the role he played in our lives.
Dana Claire DiCostanzoHeidi, I am at a loss of words. My sister (Nancy) and I loved Sascha and we were devasted to learn of his passing. Sascha was a kindred spirit; he made everyone feel welcome and had a fantastic sense of humor. He was a great man and he will be missed always. You're in our thoughts and hearts.
Jonathan BernierOne of the best people I’ve ever met. Truly amazing. Words cannot express how saddened I am by his passing.

Christine Holdip To Sascha's Family Our deepest condolences on the loss of Sascha. He was not just a neighbor he was our friend. I will miss our chats while he was waiting for his Uber or sitting outside with our dogs. You will be greatly missed by myself, my son and our dogs. Christine, Alexander, Truffles, Sahara and Ruger.
CheriaWords cannot express how deeply sorry we are to hear of Sascha’ passing. To Sascha’s family our deepest condolences on the loss of Sascha. We are so all heartbroken. We are so thankful that we had a chance to work with him. He was one of the sweetest people we’ve known at Citco. He would be so busy with his own work, but would always offer up his time to help if something came up. He was among the smartest in our group, he had created lot of automation functions to help the team. He took care all members in the team and we had lots of good memories with him. We will miss him all the time. Love, Cheria, Hanna, Nancy, Chris, Jaki, Jude and Tasneem.
Chris LeleI already left a comment above, but I'm posting this longer one (that I'd left in the FB group) here, too: Reading all these comments make me realize how well loved he was, but how his warmth and quirkiness touched so many. How they too experienced the magic of Sascha's presence and conversation. I can recall the first time I met him. I was at my friends apartment, and he was telling me about his new roommate who worked 15-hour days at some evil tech giant and hadn't surfaced from his room in days. A few minutes later, the roommate's door suddenly opens and this fellow with hair so unruly that it made Albert Einstein look like Vidal Sassoon walks into the kitchen and greets me with an affable "hello." Maybe it was something about the playful sparkle in his eyes or simply the way he zipped about the small apartment, but I was instantly drawn to him. Within minutes, we were talking about the nature of consciousness and how it relates to time--and possibly creates it. This was San Jose, pre-social media, so to find someone who thought at this level and did so in a totally non-pretentious way (he actually cared about the idea itself) was totally refreshing. I'm not sure what happened the rest of the night, but we left the space tie continuum behind at some point and I believe we ended the night banging out Hey Jude on his rental piano, my friend standing in the background wondering what the heck had just been birthed. All the times after when we hung out were like that, the conversation taking on a life itself, ending up somewhere totally unexpected--but always exhilarating (a trenchant take on the political scene washed down with a Big Lebowski reference.) Even after not seeing Sascha for years, it was so easy to slip back into that conversational zone, the endless zany riffing on whatever happened to bubble to the surface. I'll miss that--those playful, silly, heady, profound, whimsical...oh, to heck with the adjectives--those oh-so-Sascha conversations.
Kurai SibandaTo Sacha's parents and family. I am so sorry on Sascha's passing. We worked together and Sascha was such a kind person always willing to find solutions and help out others. He was a fine gentlemen and am grateful for the opportunity to have known him.
John and Elaine DeswaefWe are so saddened of the loss of your son Heidi and your nephew Martha and Frank. He was loved and will be sadly missed. Our prayers and love go out to you at this time. Love John and Elaine Deswaef
Annette SpracklanDear Heidi, my deepest sympathy for you in the loss of your dear son Sascha. It is clear that he was and always will be the love of your life. He brought you much joy through his younger years and much pride as a successful young man. Feelings of joy and pride will always be with you as you fondly remember all the special moments the two of you shared. Do not let one day of tragedy negate all those wonderful memories that are there for you to cherish. Sascha did what he believed to be the best thing for him to do. This was about him and nothing will change the final decision he made. Now he is at peace and is watching over you until you meet once again in heaven. This is the promise of your "Faith", and this is what will carry you through each day going forward. You have many friends and a very close-knit family, who love you and want to be there to give you comfort and support through this difficult time.
John HushDear Mrs. Kokott, I'm so sorry that I couldn't attend the visitation and celebration of Sascha's life this morning. It was my intention. I remember him fondly from about 25 y ago when he was in my OAC (grade 13) physics class at Beal. He was one of the more memorable students due to his interest, curiosity and expertise in the subject. His sense of humour and friendliness are first and foremost in my recollections of him. Please accept my deepest, heartfelt condolences. Showers of blessing (Ezekiel 34:26b).
Tina, Nik & Aidan CallenderDear Heidi, On behalf of my family, our condolences to you. My family and I are thinking of you at this time. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. With love and support, Tina, Nik & Aidan Callender
