Glenda BarbourMy deepest condolences. I am a part of the TMX family and have reported to Julie directly for almost 20 years. I am not sure how to properly express the void that is now in our department. I will truly miss her. She was dedicated and worked hard, however, she also loved to travel. I could always count on Julie for tips and ideas surrounding vacation. I will miss her loud laugh, her sense of humour, her delicious baking that she would always share, and even her occasional teasing about my food choices. She was unique - our one and only Julie. You will be missed Julie.
Nicole RosenbergI’m so sorry for your loss of your daughter, sister and aunt. Julie was a friend at TMX for over 15 years who put her heart and soul into her work. I always loved hearing about her latest adventures and was thrilled to spend time with her in London when she was here in December. She will be deeply missed.
Juliana SinghMy heartfelt condolences to the Shin family and all who knew and loved her. I was Julie's assistant for the past 8 years or so but it wasn't until I sat beside her that I really grew to admire her strength, integrity and one of a kind personality. I am really proud to have worked for her and will miss her dearly. My heart and prayers go out to you all.
Rachel ConwayMy heartfelt condolences to the Shin family. I articled with Julie at Gowlings and we travelled to Europe together before we started working as associates. Julie had the best laugh and such a zest for life! She was an intelligent, kind, loyal and dedicated woman. Beautiful inside and out. We will miss her greatly.
Tony HoffmannThrough your grief at the loss of a daughter, sister, aunt, please know that Julie was so much to so many. Her colleagues - of which I am one - miss her humour, her candor, her integrity and, of course, one of the wryest grins (coupled with an impish twinkle in her eye) in the business. Julie leaves a big hole in many peoples' lives. Hers is a star extinguished far too soon. All my thoughts are with you - her family - during this tumultuous time.
    Z. Edward AkkawiOn behalf of myself and all of my colleagues who had the privilege of working with Julie over many years, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Shin family and the TMX family. Our thoughts are with all of you. May she rest in peace.

Ted LarkinMy deepest and sincerest condolences to the Shin family. Cheryl GradenIt was an honour to be considered a friend of Julie’s. She was one of the first people I met at law school in 1993. Julie went out of her way to help me find my way as a lost outsider from Alberta showing up at a Toronto law school, and has had a special place in my life ever since. People were drawn to her - I noticed that right away at Osgoode, and saw it often inside and outside of her work at TMX. Her intellect and commitment to excellence always made others want to rise up and do their very best. Beyond all this, Julie also had many other really beautiful qualities - including humility, passion and wit. This powerful package made her a strong woman leader and admired by a lot of people. This week I have been thinking a lot about her laugh. I loved that Julie laugh, and plan to keep the memory of that close as the weeks, months, years unfold. My deepest condolences to Julie’s family, friends and so many others who are in shock and grieving this loss.
Vera De AbreuMy sincere condolences to the Shin Family. Gone too soon. Julie will be missed by many.
Eric WredenhagenMy sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Shin family. I articled with Julie at Gowlings over 20 years ago, and although we lost touch over the years, I still remember her fondly as a kind, funny, smart, beautiful and always postive human being - things were always a bit brighter and bettter when she was around. I'm truly sorry she left us too soon.
StephaniaDear Shin family - my sincere condolences on Julie’s passing. Julie’s sharp wit, sense of humour and zest for many adventures enriched my time in law school. I was privileged to have her as a friend in university and beyond. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family.
Joanne KennyMy sincere and heartfelt condolences to Frank, Grandpa Shin, Nolan, Olivia and Cindy during this very difficult time. I came to know Julie through Cindy and Frank many years ago. To me, she exuded a very calm quiet confidence and a natural ability to do anything well. I enjoyed hearing her of her exotic travels and interesting cultural experiences. However, I’ll remember Julie best as a caring, invested and loving aunt to Nolan and Olivia. Julie, your legacy lives on in the lives of everyone who knew you. xx
Grant SawiakFor most of Julie’s life in private practice at Gowlings, she juniored for my then partner Cameron Ferris and me. Through those years we watched her mature as a lawyer including experiencing her dedication, pride in her work and desire to learn. One of her most impressive traits was her healthy lack of ego which was best exemplified by the fact that we never heard her utter a derogatory comment about anyone no matter what the circumstance. When the TSE asked Cameron and I to recommend her for a position she had applied for dealing with regulating listed companies, we thought she’d be the type of regulator (and person) that practitioners would love to deal with. In fact she was and it culminated in her being recognized last year at the Canadian General Counsel Awards. For as much as Julie achieved professionally, I believe her true measure was who she was as a person - intensely private yet compassionate in equal amounts. As the condolences prove - a heart is measured not by how much it loves but by how much it was loved. It was an honour to have shared a brief part of her too short journey in life.
Amanda MunroPlease know we are thinking of your family during this difficult time. Words don't begin to express how sorry I am for your sudden loss. We feel it as well, across our TMX family and the many lives she has touched along the way. I've worked for Julie for almost 20 years, like many of my friends/colleagues have. They are my second family and we feel an immense void left behind. We are consumed with sadness but will try to remember the good times we shared with her...she expected us to always work hard and lead by example. We could count on her to push us outside of our comfort zone and try new team building activities and of course foods that we wouldn't dream of trying without a little nudge from her. She spoiled us with her delicious baking...but never did she share the was top secret! Thinking back there are many special memories that will help bring us comfort but she was someone that will never be replaced or forgotten. With heartfelt condolences, ~ Amanda Munro
Anne ChildMy thoughts and deepest condolences are with Julie’s family. I’ve worked with Julie since she hired me as a young lawyer 13 years ago. She was a mentor from the start but over time I was honoured to become her friend as well. I learned so much from Julie but it’s her example of integrity, loyalty and kindness which I will always hold dear. And her sense of humour. She will be greatly missed.
Ralph ShayJulie was highly respected in the legal and investment community for her integrity and dedication to serving the various TSX stakeholders. She will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences to her family.

Claire JohnsonMy deepest condolences to Julie’s family. I had great admiration for Julie’s unique combination of competence, humour and kindness. She will be greatly missed.
Doug HennessyI worked with Julie at TMX for 12+ years. Although we worked in different functional parts of the company, we were brought together on many occasions to address very technical and complex issues. Julie had such deep skill and she patiently took the time to explain and teach me so much about the business over the years. She was a valued colleague who demonstrated great integrity, commitment and courage. My condolences to Julie's family and friends and hope you find comfort in the love and respect that so many felt for her.
Stephen PincusI was deeply saddened to hear of Julie's passing. Julie was an exceptional lawyer, leader and human being. She was extremely intelligent and creative, always accessible and responsive, highly principled, and passionately committed to doing her very best. I was fortunate to work closely with Julie on countless client transactions and TSX initiatives over many years. Last year I had the privilege of nominating her for the Canadian General Counsel Business Achievement Award - her candidacy was widely and strongly supported across the legal community and it was clear that she was tremendously popular as both a professional and a person. She won this award and accepted it with her typical humility. I will miss Julie's warmth, humor, thoughtfulness, fairness and integrity. My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends on this tragic loss.
Leonard PetrilloWhen Julie joined TMX, everyone knew she was going to be a star and she didn't disappoint - rising quickly to the top of her profession. Julie was recognized nationally as an expert in her field - renowned for her knowledge and her integrity. Hardworking and always helpful, Julie was a pleasure to work with. She has left us too soon and will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family and to her associates at TMX.

Linda PlumptonMy deepest condolences to Julie's family and to her colleagues at TMX on her loss. I worked with Julie on many cases over the years and had the great fortune to witness her brilliance and passion first hand. She was full of spirit and energy. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to see her in action. Beyond her work, she was a fun, interesting and engaging person. Her voice will stick with me and I will miss her greatly. Rest in peace, Julie.
Cameron FerrisMy sincerest condolences. I met Julie when she interviewed for an articling position and we remained friends. During articles Julie quickly distinguished herself, both with her knowledge of the law and her personality. I was honoured to have been chosen by Julie as her first mentor in law and I was privileged to have worked closely with Julie as she began her journey in the practice of law. I was impressed with Julie’s knowledge of the law, professionalism, judgment and maturity and, as importantly, her understanding and appreciation of clients’ expectations. Julie “got it”. I fondly recall our mentor/protégé lunches at the King Edward Hotel. As exceptional a lawyer as she was, Julie was an even better person. Julie was a very pleasant, likeable and kind person, who was very disarming. Julie and I served together on the Board of a prominent charity in downtown Toronto during which time I experienced the depth and breadth of her kindness and compassion. Julie, I will value the memories and you (and your wry smile) will be missed, but not forgotten. 작별, my friend. Cameron
Kerry KrochakJulie was one of a kind, she was a great friend and colleague. I was lucky enough to know her both personally and professionally for many many years. She will be always remembered and missed. She was taken from us way too soon.
Shannon O'HearnI worked with Julie in different capacities over the past 15+ years. She was gracious with her knowledge, passionate about policy and lovely to deal with her - whether you were sitting beside or opposite her at the table. I was so pleased and proud to see Julie's professional accomplishments recognized last year and so grateful that she and I found time to celebrate this over a breezy patio lunch in the fall. I will hold that memory close. My deepest condolences for your loss.
Norman FindlayMy heartfelt condolences to the family. She is fat too young. Julie was a pleasure to deal with and will be missed.
Ian MichaelI am so saddened to learn of Julie's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her on both sides of the table so to speak on numerous occasions and at many fun events in between. Julie was knowledgeable, creative and confident on every occasion. Her integrity and sense of fairness served her very well and was widely admired and respected. May her family and friends take comfort in warm remembrance. I offer my condolences.
Henry HarrisSincere condolences personally, and on behalf of Gowling WLG, to the Shin family as well as Julie’s team and colleagues at TMX. It was a pleasure to work with Julie when she was a very capable and hard working junior associate at Gowlings until leaving for TMX in 1999. It’s hard to believe that was nearly 20 years ago. Despite her seniority at TMX, Julie always remained very accessible to lawyers at our firm and elsewhere, always even handed and willing to answer the more difficult questions regarding TSX policies and listing matters, and always responding in a friendly and practical, no nonsense manner. Although she never returned to Gowlings, she did agree to “come back” a few years ago to be a panellist on a public company seminar we had organized for our clients. It was nice to have Julie back with us then. She will be deeply missed by friends and colleagues. Our thoughts are with Julie’s family.
Madan and Asha JonejaWe are very sorry to learn about the sad news. Julie will be missed by all of us in Kingston. Our most sincere condolences to the Shin family.
Berl NadlerJulie was outstanding in her job and it was a pleasure to work with her over the years. She will be missed.

It's hard to believe she is gone. My deepest condolences to her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you find comfort in each other and memories of happy times with Julie.
Shameem RashidJulie was a close friend during law school and for all our years since then. I will miss her warmth, kindness and most of all her laugh. She was always laughing and was always able to make me laugh. My sincere condolences to the Shin family. She will be missed.
Sylvain MartelMy deepest condolences to Julie’s family. It was a shock to hear the news of Julie passing and I am deeply saddened. I am honored and blessed to have known Julie. She was a woman of strength and exemplary deeds. Now, in her time of death, your sorrow we share. She will be missed.
Kelly RobinsonI met Julie out on my curb on Carrie Crescent in Kingston when I was 6 years old and she was 5. Little did I know that that encounter would bring me a childhood best friend and a second family. I have very few memories of my childhood that don't include Julie, and all of them filled with laughter and joy. I remember the sleepovers, playing at each other's houses nearly everyday, going to our local swimming pool, going shopping, to movies, making dinner for our parents (and thinking it was oh so fancy), spending the entire March Break playing Decathlon on their new TRS80 computer while listening to Blondie, and scamming our parents for popsicles by going back and forth to each others house in the summer. Such cherished memories now. As often does happen, we fell out of touch a bit as we got older and after the Shins moved to London, but reading a lot of the comments left by others, she clearly made the same impact on those around her each and every day that she did on me over 40 years ago. I will cherish those memories and be very thankful that I had a friend like Julie. I was very lucky. RIP my childhood bestie. My loving condolences to the Shins.
Charlotte Clark (miss Clark)The ribbon dance on the stage at J R Henderson School was so beautiful as was Julie. I remember her smile and that primary choir where those young voices brought such pleasure to their teachers and families. I feel so sad. Love and sympathy to the Shin family.
Pierre SoulardMy thoughts and deepest condolences are with Julie’s family. Julie was highly respected in the legal and investment community for her professionalism, integrity and dedication. We will greatly miss her.
Barbara DohertyMy condolences to the Shin family. Julie was always a pleasure to deal with and will be sorely missed by the community.
David BabstockI've had the honor and pleasure to work with Julie for nearly 20 years and I will truly miss her wisdom, mentoring and sense of humor. Her passing is a great loss to her family, TMX and everyone that knew her. My sincere condolences to the Shin family, all her friends and colleagues. She leaves us way too soon, but she will never be forgotten.
Charlotte BellMy most sincere condolences to the Shin family. I worked with Julie for almost 20 years - the opportunity to work with her was one of the reasons I left the private practice of law to join the TMX Group. Brilliant, hard-working, honest, trustworthy - these traits earned Julie deep respect from the capital markets participants, including her recent professional recognition as the recipient of the Canadian General Counsel Award for Business Achievement. But she truly delighted in spending time with her family, enjoying delicious dinners at new restaurants and travelling the world. She will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, friend, lawyer and colleague. Words cannot express how sad I am. I will miss her so very much.
Crispin ArthurI join everyone in sharing my sincere condolences to Julie's family. Julie was a committed professional, extremely intelligent, practical and a delight to work with.
Danielle GroverMy deepest condolences to Julie's family and friends. I had the honour of working for Julie and I am so grateful for the time I spent working with her and getting to know her. She was brilliant, passionate and so incredibly funny. She was a role model for me and a bright light to everyone who had the chance to know her. She will forever be missed.
