Dutz, Karl Anton

February 27th, 2018

(1938 - 2018) Karl passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018. Beloved husband to Ursula, his wife of 55 years. Loving father to Diana (Joe), Erika, and Andrew (Jodi). Cherished Opa to Jaime and Anthony. He will be missed by family and dear friends, near and far. Karl will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of travel and nature, his passion for social justice, and his deep devotion to his family. He was a loyal friend to many and his loss will be felt by those in Cozumel, his home away from home, as well as by former colleagues at Labatt's, where he worked for 36 years (less a day). We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Geming Tu, Carrie Ielapi, and to all the palliative staff at Victoria Hospital and Parkwood Institute. Thank you for the compassionate care and support you provided for Karl and our family. Friends will be received from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Karl invites you to donate to a charity that is close to your heart.

Martha IvesterUrsula, Diana, Erika and Andrew... my deepest condolences on the loss of your father. I have so may wonderful memories or our time as neighbors in Wellington St... of Nina racing along the fence and Karl shouting at her to calm down, him calling to his kids to come home over the fence, and of him raising an eyebrow when Andrew came over to play dress-up with us. I love that he spent so much time in Cozumel.. he always loved to speak of his travels. Prayers from Nashville where I am now living with my husband Gavin and our three kids (Lloyd, Audrey and Opal) and two big dogs! Karl would like them. hugs, Martha (nee Benson)
Paul SteelSo sad to get this news. Karl and Ursula were great neighbours of mine in the Hotel Costa Brava in Cozumel and I always appreciated his sense of humour. My sincere thoughts are with Ursula and and the family at this sad time.
Henry and Tracy HoutstraWe are moved deeply to hear of Carl’s passing. We knew him and Ursula from a dive hotel in Cozumel Mexico. He was always so cheerful with a greeting or a story. The love he had for adventure and diving could only be surpassed by his love for Ursula. We will truly miss our friend and fellow diver. All our love and condolences to Ursula and family.
Carol Anne BuoteKarl, you will be sadly missed. You were so full of life, humour, and adventure. It was an honour and pleasure to have known you. Both Rob and I enjoyed the time we spent with you and Ursula with a cervaza (or two) in your Cozumel home away from home. It would be nice to imagine that wherever you may be - now that you have moved out of life - you are drifting with the eagle rays! - from one of your first dive buddies, Carol Anne
