Book of Condolences

Gord & Jan SmithTom & Family Sending our deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your dear Mom Joan. Gord worked with your dad at Parkside and Jan was also a nurse like your mom. We spent many wonderful times together going to the theatre or parties along with John and Ann Thorburn. We lost touch with your Mom after your dad died and she moved from the apartment on Wonderland. We hope that her last years have been peaceful. We are up north at our cottage and will be unable to join you tomorrow at the Funeral service, but please know that you will be in our thoughts. With Deepest Sympathy Gord & Jan Smith St. Thomas, ON

John & Ann ThorburnTom and family: We are sharing at this time the very happy memories we have of the many good times we had with your Mom and Dad and you and Judith in particular. Your parents were like parents to us, but at the same time very good friends. Just a short while ago we were watching the newest Star Wars movie and remembered the time when you and your Dad, along with my son Chris (who is now 47!) and I, plus others, went to see the original Star Wars movie. Your Mom was really important to Ann as Ann's mother died very young and Joan provided that "mother model" for Ann. I have many fond remembrances of Jim, a true character, who I met at Althouse College in 1966. That led to a long and eventful relationship with. Oth Jim and Joan. GordSmith mentioned the theatre "dates" that we shared with many of our Parkside friends, when most of the men in particular had restful sleeps! We saw your Mom a few years ago and took her to a Thanksgiving lunch where she ate like a young teenager! We realized at that time that she was in the grips of dementia, and she was making references to "his nibs" who she said was not well enough to join us. Of course, Jm had passed on some time before. We are thinking of you at this time, and extend our warmest sympathies to you. Your parents both had lives well lived, and we hope that is bringing you and your family consolation. We will be with you in spirit tomorrow and Joan and Jim will remain in our thoughts forever. Fondly, John & Ann Thorburn Canmore, Alberta.
